I have a Mac mini with OS 10.6.8, 2 GB of memory and 58GB of storage available on the hard drive.

Can't Install El Capitan
I'm unable to complete the installation of El Capitan. I only have the HD & RAM memory installed (no battery). Other Mac OS-X Versions are installing OK (even Windows). But, when I try to upgrade to El Capitan it never finishes the update. Also, it will not install via USB thumb drive. I have tried everything! Download: OS X El Capitan This downloads as a disk image named InstallMacOSX.dmg. On a Mac that is compatible with El Capitan, open the disk image and run the installer within, named InstallMacOSX.pkg. It installs an app named Install OS X El Capitan into your Applications folder. I am trying to update to OSX El Capitan so I can download the latest version of iTunes (My iPhone 6 upgraded to the latest iOs9 on 10/1/15 and now my current version of iTunes can't see my phone because my phone needs the latest version of ITunes and the latest version of iTunes won't work with OS 10.6.8).
When I try to upgrade to El Capitan, I get the message that 'this version of OSx 10.11 cannot be installed on this computer' but no further information as to why not. Any ideas?
